Louisville is excited to host this workshop featuring two outstanding teachers from Matsumoto, Japan. The workshop will be held at The Piano Shop, the Louisville area Steinway dealer, at 13040 East Gate Parkway # 108. The location is very convenient with many nearby restaurants and shopping. There are many hotels within a 10-15 minute drive.
Eight students will travel from Japan to participate in the workshop and perform in a recital with students from the United States. This recital, called a Friendship Concert to celebrate the fact that music connects people around the world, will be held on Saturday, August 4th, in Comstock Hall at the University of Louisville School of Music located at 105 W. Brandeis Avenue.
Teachers
Full week: $400
Daily Observation: $100
Teacher registration for three or more days includes a lesson and the opportunity for students to participate in the workshop.
A non-refundable $200 payment is due with your online registration. Remainder is due at the beginning of the workshop.

There are a limited number of spaces available for lessons and to perform in the Friendship Concert. Please fill out the form above to register for a lesson. Teachers make recommendations for the Friendship Concert separately.
You will be contacted regarding payment after July 1st when your enrollment is confirmed.

Recital and lesson videos are included in workshop fees. The Friendship Concert videos will be made available to everyone online. Teachers and students may view their own lesson videos via a private link.
Are you a member of Piano Basics Foundation? If not, please consider signing up at the workshop. This valuable organization promotes the work of Dr. Kataoka and supports these workshops. Annual dues are $40 for teachers and $25 for families.

Friendship Concert
Teachers attending the workshop are encouraged to have students perform. There is typically room for one or two students per teacher. The number will be determined by how many teachers register to bring students by July 1st. Teachers and students will be notified by July 3rd. There is no audition. It is up to the teacher to determine if a student is ready and indicate which student(s) they would like perform on their teacher registration form. Performers must have a lesson at the workshop, participate in the rehearsal, and have formal concert attire, including dresses for girls and suit jackets and ties for boys. Teachers will set the bench for their students and must attend the post concert discussion on Sunday morning.
